Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

CastLog is a privacy-first fishing journal built by an angler, not a data broker. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. In plain English wherever we can manage it.

The short version: Your spots are private by default. We don't sell your data, and we don't run an ad network. Your catches belong to you, and you can delete your account and data at any time.

Who we are

CastLog ("we," "us") provides the CastLog mobile app and the castlogapp.com website. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at anthony.smith1760@gmail.com.

Information we collect

How we use your information

Your spots are private by default

CastLog has no public social feed. The spots and locations you save are private to your account by default and are not shared with other users or shown publicly. Your best water took years to find — we're built so it stays yours.

How your data is stored

Your account and fishing data are stored on secure cloud infrastructure and synced to your devices. We use reputable third-party providers to host data, sign you in, and measure product usage. These providers process data only to provide their services to us, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

What we don't do

Photos and metadata

Photos you attach to a catch are stored with your journal so you can see them across your devices. We do not publish your photos or their location metadata to a public feed.

Analytics and the website

The castlogapp.com website uses standard analytics (Google Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic, and the app uses product analytics to understand feature usage. This data is used in aggregate to improve CastLog and is not used to build advertising profiles about you.

Your rights and choices

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your associated fishing data, except where we're required to retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.

Children's privacy

CastLog is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as CastLog grows. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
